who we are

Roundabout Circus is the Central Coast’s Community Circus. We are a social enterprise and registered charity with a mission to use circus to empower individuals in our local area.

We offer weekly classes for kids and adults including ground based skills such as juggling, hula hoop, acrobalance and Aerial Fitness, Silks (tissu), Static Trapeze, Lyra. Our trainers are all professional circus performers who have entertained crowds in Australia and around the world!

Our focus at Roundabout Circus is on promoting the benefits of social circus arts in our community. We reinvest our surplus into projects such as offering discounted classes and programs for disadvantaged groups in our community such as people with disabilities and at risk youth.

BENEFITS OF CIRCUS SKILLS

Circus is a beautiful blend of sports and art that weaves physical activity with creative expression, all in a non-competitive, supportive atmosphere. Imagine this: as you learn circus skills, you’re not just mastering tricks; you’re boosting your confidence, nurturing your self-esteem, expanding your attention span, unleashing your creativity, and refining your coordination. It’s like discovering a whole new world of possibilities, one flip and twirl at a time.

Our Beginnings

Roundabout Circus Incorporated was founded by Rachel Peters and Andy Long in January 2017 as the first Not for Profit Central Coast Community Circus.

Rachel and Andy were inspired by their international projects with Performers Without Borders (PWB) to bring Social Circus to their home in Australia. Andy has toured India twice with PWB and together they toured Nicaragua working with street kids and disadvantaged youth to empower them through circus arts. After 3 months on tour Rachel and Andy sat under a Palapa in a Circus training centre “Casa de las Botellitas” or House of Little Bottles Palapa and brainstormed about their future community circus. The idea of Roundabout Circus was born.

We chose a Roundabout because it symbolises the different things that draw us towards the circus. People are attracted to it for various reasons, be it fitness, fun, therapy, community, the risk, challenge or performance aspects. Regardless of what captivates your interest and the path you are taking, the Circus brings you to a central point, teaching you fundamental lessons and provides you with a community and direction for where you are going. This is the essence of Roundabout Circus. Whoever you are and wherever you are going, you are welcome with us.

Did you Know Roundabout Circus is a registered Charity?

At the heart of the Central Coast thrives Roundabout Circus—a beacon of community and empowerment. Founded by Rachel Peters and Andy Long, inspired by transformative projects across the globe, we’ve embraced the circus as more than just art; it’s a pathway to social change.

Every drop, jump, and juggle resonates with our core philosophy: “Nothing is Impossible in the Circus.” We’re not just teachers and  performers; we’re advocates for social inclusion, empowering individuals to believe, collaborate, and thrive. From children to adults, our trainers—many of whom are professional circus artists—infuse each class with expertise, support, creativity and passion.

Our mission? To harness the transformative power of circus arts, making it accessible to all, especially the disadvantaged—whether they’re people with disabilities or at-risk youth. Your support helps us offer more than just classes; it allows us to invest in community projects, empowering even more individuals with the joy and benefits of the circus.
